ViciBox v.6.0 Released!

Postby Kumba » Thu Jun 19, 2014 4:48 pm

The long awaited update of ViciBox is here. You can download it at the following:

http://download.vicidial.com/iso/vicibox/server/

It's built using the following:

OpenSuSE v.13.1 64-bit
Kernel v.3.11.10
Asterisk v.1.8.28.2-vici
DAHDI v.2.9.1.1
LibPRI v.1.4.14
VoiceSync v.1.3.7
OpenR2 v.1.3.3
ViciDial SVN Trunk v.2.10-443a build 140617-2017 revision 2130

I've also figured out a way to get Sangoma drivers to compile, although I have to do it outside the OpenSuSE Build Service due to repository issues. You have to manually download the driver and install it using 'zypper in <files_here>' from the following url: http://download.vicidial.com/iso/vicibo ... /vicibox6/

Cool will test this out in a live environment.

I am adding a telephony server, will this works well with my current single server install? I've used 5.0.3 to my single server with VERSION: 2.8-417a, BUILD: 131019-0849, 1.8.26.1-vici,

Should both have the same version of asterisk to work perfectly?
One server that I am managing | Single Server | ViciBox Redux 6.0 | VERSION: 2.12-549a | BUILD: 160404-0940 | revision 2508| No other hardware

no, it does not matter. The only thing that matters is that the same SVN revision is used. The only time asterisk matters is if you are running a 2+ year old version of ViciDial prior to 1.8 support.

you should be able to add a telephony server to your single server easily.

Hi, this is my first time using ViciBox/ViciDial. I'm a PHP/MySQL Developer working in a call centre and we are hoping to introduce ViciBox/Dial.

I've downloaded the v6.0 ISO which we are installing now. Apologies for what will probably be simple questions.....

1) Does ViciBox contain absolutely everything we need to run the call centre system (minus hardware obviously)
2) Does ViciBox come with the web based interface system which i've seen on some ViciDial screenshots or is that installed separately?
3) What is the URL to access the system after installation?
3) What is the URL link to PHPMyAdmin?
4) Where are the PHP and HTML files etc located?

Many thanks in advance

good: Xtables Geoip this time with it.

not so good: no 1000 Hz kernel (any ordinary PIAF or Freepbx has something default)

Hi,

Trying to install this - we've got as far as the network config. Entered all info, no problems with our network, but ping is resulting in "network is unreachable" - is there something missing from the installation notes or could someone please advise?

Thanks

You should probably start your own thread about your installation issues. This thread isn't really to help you trouble shoot things. But it sounds like your network settings are wrong.

We haven't experienced any side-effects from this. Can you produce any issues regarding this lack of kernel compilation option? I'm really not looking into have a custom kernel for ViciBox. That makes the already pain in the butt drivers that much more of a pain.

Well, Kinda. It's still not as smooth as it should be. Sangoma's drivers are a pretty good mess which is why they can't be built in.

I'm adding a new telephony server to my 5.03 cluster tomorrow. I'll use the v6 ISO and let you know how I get on.

I installed v6.0 on a Dell Poweredge 1850 today. I had the same issue I always have with this hardware and ViciBox ISOs. After rebooting from the 'os-install' step the system will not boot due to the onboard raid card modules not being in the initramfs image.

Code: Select all
vicidial-4:~ # lspci | grep RAID
02:0e.0 RAID bus controller: Dell PowerEdge Expandable RAID controller 4 (rev 06)

I booted up SystemRescueCD and altered '/etc/sysconfig/kernel' by changing the 'INITRD_MODULES' setting.

Code: Select all
INITRD_MODULES="megaraid_mm megaraid_mbox"

Then running 'mkinitrd' to rebuild the initramfs with the correct modules. I rebooted and the system came up cleanly so i was able to proceed with the rest of the installation.

Ok kumba, thanks for looking. It's not a major issue for me as I know about it being a problem on my hardware, so it only take about 15mins to work round. The first time I had the problem it took me about a week to track it down though. My concern is I'd imagine a Linux/Vicidial newbie would be completely stumped.

I used the v6.0 ISO to do an advanced install to create a Slave database server on a Dell 1950. My first attempted failed as I have setup some custom views on the Master database and the initial SQL dump failed due to the 'slave' user not having 'SHOW VIEW' rights. Once I fixed up that manually, the install process worked cleanly.

Unfortunately Kumba I wasn't able to test if the megaraid drivers work on this machine as it has a slightly different raid controller.

Code: Select all
01:00.0 SCSI storage controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1068E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS (rev 08)

It works out of the box as it uses the 'mptsas' linux driver module.

Ohh yeah. OpenSuSE decided to statically compile in the mod_access_compat module which requires you to use the older Apache2 access requirements. Guess there will be a ViciBox v.6.0.1 now.

Are there any other download options?

The current download speed is about 2 days in Seattle from multiple locations. Is there a mirror? Can we host a mirror?

You should use the svn trunk when upgrading vicidial, here is the tread viewtopic.php?p=88553
but if you want to update the software around vicidial then you should make a backup and do a new install with vicibox and restore the backup

You're lookin' at it. The initial post (and often followups) by Kumba represent changes. Note he listed the package levels in the new release and also added a note about something else.

I think you may want to have a change list for ViciDIAL (as opposed to ViciBOX). ViciBOX is the installation package, which provides the Environment for ViciDIAL to run. It provides packages like asterisk, and that's why Kumba lists packages and revision levels.

But Vicidial is a completely different monster. Vicibox CAN install any version of Vicidial, and will ordinarily install the "Latest". Since that changes every day, it would be pointless to attempt to post any of that information in the Vicibox distro release post.

And notes for upgrades of Vicidial are contained in several places, most notably in the admin.php source code, near the top, in a special section for that purpose (since most changes affect that file). If other files are changed, I've noted that The Vicidial Group tends to note those files as well. Major revisions are accompanied by a new Manual which also contains change information.

Is that clearer? 8-)
