read the subject line (windows 8 breaks the agent screen, the start button is missing ...) and then the body of the post for the solution to this problem. Reported by a client, but I suspect others will/have bumped into it and decided it was simpler to share here and perhaps save some people "downgrading".

On the agent-computers I've setup with Debian there is no start button, but that doesn't break anything

you linux people, you're all the same. you just roll with it. but windows people freak out with irregularities. they also keep all the pencils on their desk straight and park their cars in neat rows.

Yeah I guess we have a special mindset,
desk is a mess and I park my 1957 Chrysler anywhere where there is at least 6 meters room (19.69" for you yankees)
